Mekong Mission Forum (MMF) was initiated by LWF/DMD more than a decade ago, the forum is a network of member churches and mission partners to accompany churches in the Mekong region, namely Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar in a holistic mission.

It raises up theological leadership in churches, seminaries, and other organisations by providing scholarships. It offers training in theological reflection, peace-building and conflict resolution for clergy and lay people.

Over the years, this forum has been growing and participants have often commended the contribution of MMF for being instrumental in accompanying the ministries of the churches as well as building and strengthening partnership of the related churches and institutions in Asia and beyond.

In 2014, a need to deepen the discussions on specific areas of concerns was expressed as a way to move ahead.  In order to enhance the ministry of the churches in the region and strengthen the solidarity of the partner churches and institutions outside the region, especially in advocacy work, there is also an urgent need to provide an opportunity for such meetings to highlight the socio-political dynamics in this region and the challenges for the witness of the churches.

In order to develop sustainable churches in the Mekong region, this year, the church's role in public witness, effective model of theological education, changing landscape: now and future and towards a more accountable scholarship will be discussed.
